01Getting started

What do I need before I start?

A place where your comics already live: a NAS (SMB or WebDAV), a Komga/Kavita server, an OPDS catalog, a cloud drive, or just files on your iPhone/iPad. Comink does not come with any comics — it connects to libraries you already have.

What file formats are supported?

CBZ, CBR, CB7, ZIP, RAR, 7z, PDF, EPUB, MOBI and AZW3 — read straight from the archive, no converting needed.

Does Comink work on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV with one purchase?

Yes. Comink, Comink for iPad and the Apple TV app share one purchase — unlock once on any device and it carries over to the others tied to the same Apple ID.

02Connecting a NAS, Komga, Kavita or cloud drive

How do I connect a Synology or QNAP NAS?

In Comink, add a new source and choose SMB or WebDAV, then enter your NAS address, share name, and login. See our Synology SMB guide in the Guides section for a full walkthrough.

Can I connect Komga or Kavita?

Yes — add a new source, choose Komga or Kavita, and enter your server URL and account credentials. Any OPDS-compatible catalog works the same way.

Does Comink support Baidu Netdisk and other cloud drives?

Yes, Baidu Netdisk is supported directly, and any cloud drive reachable over WebDAV can be added as a WebDAV source.

My server address uses a self-signed certificate or local IP. Does Comink allow local network connections?

Yes. Comink is designed to talk to devices on your own local network, including NAS boxes using HTTP or self-signed HTTPS. If you have trouble connecting, double check the address, port, and that your device is on the same network (or has VPN access to it).

03On-device translation

What languages does translation support?

Comink recognizes speech bubbles in Japanese, Korean and English pages, including vertical text, and places the translation back into the bubble.

Does translation need an internet connection?

Recognition always runs on your device. Translation uses Apple’s built-in engine by default (which may need a one-time download in Settings), or you can download optional offline models (about 80 MB per language) for translation with no connection at all.

Is my page content uploaded anywhere for translation?

No. Recognition and translation happen on your device — page images are never uploaded to us.

04Apple TV

How do I add a source on Apple TV?

Use the same Sources screen as on iPhone/iPad — sign in with the same Apple ID and your reading progress and sources can sync across devices via your own iCloud.

Can I use translation on Apple TV?

Yes, the same on-device recognition and translation works on the big screen.

05Purchases, restore & Family Sharing

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Sign in with the same Apple ID and use "Restore Purchases" in Comink’s settings. All Apple platforms (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV) share the same unlock.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — a 7-day free trial with unlimited reading. After the trial, a limited number of free chapters and translated pages are available daily; a one-time purchase or subscription unlocks everything.

Does Comink support Family Sharing?

Where enabled by the purchase type, Family Sharing works the way it does for any App Store purchase — manage it from Settings › Apple ID › Family Sharing on your device.

06Kids Mode

How does Kids Mode work?

You choose exactly which sources a child's profile is allowed to open. Adding or editing a server for that profile requires the parent's PIN, so kids can only read from what you've approved.
